On Sunday, July 19, the Grace & Glory Tabernacle MB Church officially reopened for its congregation.

Grace & Glory MB Church pastors, Sunday School teachers, and teachers met in three specific meetings during the third phase of Illinois to come up with a plan to reopen the church using Personal protective equipment (PPE), disinfectants, etc. Due to having to stay at the ordering house, the North Lawndale church, located at 2140 S Pulaski Rd., hosted virtual services through Zoom and Facebook Live.

The pastor’s primary goal is to continue to help their members connect with the church, with one another, and with God. Co-Pastor of Grace & Glory Tabernacle Rev. Betty Hillsman said, “It’s time we exercise faith and reconnect with God and with each other.”

For the official church reopening service, about 30 members attended. All members use PPE equipment and follow social improvement procedures in accordance with local public health duties. Members come with their own masks and the church supplies PPE equipment for those who may need them. The Church leaders made sure that their service area was prepared for up to 50 people to attend.

The ceremony included a dance of praise from the youth, the importance of reading together, and a special thematic sermon on Father Hillsman’s church service.

“We must all continue to wear our masks at every service and have PPE ready,” said Hillsman. “We are using our faith in God to allow Him to help us with this reopening because we know that He will keep us.”

There are church members who are happy to be back at church with the other members.

Farrah Davis, a member of the church for 20 years, said: “The church is very important and it is a unique opportunity to serve virtual but happy to be back.
